Just before last Christmas I decided to dig out my sewing machine and make some little toys for my girls (having collected several unfinished skirts and tops from projects started a few years ago!).
I had bought a Simplicity pattern at a craft fair last year along with some cute multi-coloured spotty material. Looking through my material stash I decided it would go lovely with some Amy Butler fabric.
There were four choices of toys to make in the pattern so I decided to make an elephant for my little baby girl (or Hettie as my 2 year old daughter would say) and a giraffe for my two year old.
Although I had been on a sewing course a few years ago, having since had two babies I really could only remember the very basics of how to use my sewing machine. It was a good project to begin with, with darts being the most complicated technique to master – but I still managed to go wrong on my first attempt!
Nevertheless they were finished by about midnight on Christmas eve with a little help from my husband and Mum!
I really love them!
Thank you!
They’re lovely!
